Thank you everybody for your support and participation - our event in Trieste over the weekend was a sweeping success - you are invited to watch selected parts on our media player and photo gallery. We believe that the web and specially social media sites such as 'twitter' and 'facebook' are instrumental to our premise of 'knowing and welcoming the other' as they simply give the means for all of us wherever we are to know each other, learn about each other and find the common humanity in each other while celebrating our cultures and diversities. The web is truly the greatest tool in the history of the planet to dissipate ignorance and prejudice and instill a sense of unity. The web transcends most geographical and political borders and represents the consciousness, awareness and wisdom of all of us. Congratulations everybody we have a winner to our twitter contest - our committee reviewed hundreds of tweets that were all wonderfully capturing and beautifully expressing the essence and spirit of Hospitality - from all your entires we learned that indeed no matter what tradition we follow we all adhere to the core basic command of all religions - love your neighbor as much as you love yourself.

WeDoCare is a nonprofit association dedicated to promoting hospitality and fostering cultural tolerance- 'knowing and welcoming the other'. On the 5-6 of September 2009, we have joined the Jewish community of the city of Trieste in Northern Italy in a celebration of hospitality. Over the weekend we will be holding multi-denominational religious rites, public lectures and musical performances as well as hosting guests from Europe and around the world.
We are inviting the online community to join us as well, as we live-broadcast the event during the entire weekend. We want to spread the word and we need your help!
About the Event Founder of the WeDoCare Association Dr. Ron Fremder has joined forces with the Trieste's Jewish community first in 2008 bringing then the hip Israeli ethnic-pop star Idan Raichel and running a bold campaign including full size billboards of the cool rasta-israeli musician across town. The event drew over 3000 of the city enthused dwellers to the piazza by the synagogue. This year Mr. Fremder and the Jewish community of this border town are taking the event to further new heights. Theming the event - Knowing and Welcoming the Other - the community invited esteemed Christian, Muslim and Jewish religious leaders, scholars and performance artists form Italy and the neighboring: Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Serbia, Slovenia as well as Israel to be part of the event. Over the weekend of the 5th and 6th of September religious rites in the spirit of hospitality will be conducted on public stages along with public debates. The big attraction though is a massive musical happening to be performed in different venues across town. Furthermore the community is erecting a symbolic 'Abraham's Tent of Hospitality' in the piazza to welcome all visitors with food, drinks and open hearts. Pictures from the event last year   About the Contest To promote awareness for the event as well as the values of cultural and religious tolerance and mutual hospitality, the WeDoCARE association has launched a twitter contest - we invite you to tweet on ‘what is the meaning of Hospitality to you’. The best two tweets that will be genuine, touching, poetic or exciting will win their owners a flight to Italy, full accommodation in the best hotel in Trieste, full board and naturally access to all the venues and festivities of the event. All fully paid by the WeDoCARE association. So please be our guest just tweet yourself to an experience you'll never forget.
All you need to do to take part in competition is to tweet on what hospitality means to you and include the #wedocare hash tag in your tweet so we can track you. You can write as many tweets as you like to increase your chances to win. An example tweet: "Hospitality always reminds me of my family #WeDoCARE". The Contest will officially start on the 24th of August and will conclude a week later on the 30th of August. Don't forget to follow us on twitter to find out if you've won.
